GOLD AWARD 2008 NOMINATIONS

The Institute of Maltese Journalists (IGM) accepts nominations for the Gold Award 2008. Submissions can be made by persons, organisations or institutions. No one can nominate himself or herself, but everyone is free to submit nominations to the I?M of a person, persons, society, body, organisation or other institution who, in their opinion, qualify for this honour.

The Gold Award is sponsored by the Tumas Fenech Foundation for the Education of Journalists (FTFEG).

The aims of the Gold Award are to give deserved recognition:
To the Maltese person or person resident in Malta who has had a long career and possesses vast experience in journalism; or
The institution, society, body, organisation or group of persons who have contributed substantially to the development of journalism.

In both cases the contribution would be above and beyond the requisites of normal practice in the profession.

Closing date

Submissions will be accepted until Thursday, 21 August, 2008. Whoever submits a nomination has to provide all the details necessary, including: a detailed account of the work carried out; a letter of recommendation from a number of persons involved; the nominated person's biography.

This must be accompanied by the reason or reason why the nomination is being made so that the Council of the I?M will be in a position to pass on the nomination to the Selection Board, whose Chairman is President Emeritus Prof. Guide de Marco. The Selection Board's choice will be officially announced during the presentation ceremony of the Malta Journalism Awards (MJA).
